Trong tháng ba Hội Tương Trợ Xã Hội Westminster HTTXHW sẽ tiến hành với việc thăm dò ý kiến (survey) của cư dân trong cộng đồng Việt về vấn đề trẻ em bị ngược đãi để có được một khái niệm trung thực hơn trong vấn đề phức tạp này. HTTXHW tham dự Tiệc Xuân Mậu Tí ở Paracel

Bầu trời Cali thật ảm đạm hôm nay, ngược lại thì không khí trong nhà hàng Paracel nơi những cô chú mừng Xuân Mậu tí thật vui nhộn. Chương trình ca nhạc với ca sĩ Mỹ Lan và anh Thảo, thành viên của VHN và nhiều người nữa mà tác giả không biết tên.
Chị Trâm được mời tham dự hôm nay là một khuôn mặt quen thuộc với nhiều người quan khách. Nhưng khi chị đóng góp buổi ca nhạc với những bản nhạc Việt quen thuộc đã làm không ít người ngỡ ngàn, ngạc nhiên với tài năng về âm nhạc của chị. Và tôi nghĩ một ngày gần đây, khi người trong cộng đồng có cơ hội nghe và thấy những công việc làm của hội tương trợ xã hội với chị Trâm là chủ tịch, thì hy vọng sự ngạc nhiên sẽ thay thế với sự khâm phục và những nguyện vọng cộng tác làm việc chung với HTTXHW và chị Trâm.

ABAOC celebrated Lunar New Year

The year of the rat was important enough for Asian Business Association of Orange County - ABAOC's President-elect Maurice Nguyen to organize a New Year Celebration at Emerald Bay in Santa Ana for the members and friends of the organization on 2/28/2008. UXCW's president Tram was greeted warmly by former powerful club president Mr. Miranda and by president-elect Mr. Maurice Nguyen. For Tram it was a great opportunity to exchange with Mr. Miranda few thoughts about UXCW/HTTXHW and its future events. It was a beautiful dinner talk between friends like the proverb I've heard as student in europe: Don't walk behind me, I may not lead. Don't walk in front of me, I may not follow. Just walk beside me and be my friend.

VietMOMS at our meeting

It was raining and cold on last thursday 2/21. But this bad weather did not stop District President SALLY and District Director JAN to join our club meeting. Inside of Emerald Bay Restaurant hot tea and wine warmed us up and the 6 course dinner (seafood soup, shrimps, fried fish, claims, vegetable, special tofu) made everyone happy and ready for the coming session with VietMOMS. VietMOMS is represented by Ailenne and Rosa, women of two different generations and two different cultures with one common goal: Helping young mothers and babys. VietMOMS provides basic things every mom needs for their fragile baby like diapers, blanket, clothes, toys, etc. After listening to the work of VietMOMS we asked and discussed how our Unity Exchange Club can help VietMOMS. And our Co-Founder Dr. Spitzer (949)955-3937 is offering free eye exam to moms and babys in need referred by VietMOMS organization. Now you can imagine how excited was the reaction of our guests Ailenne and Rosa. Do you also have another idea how to help? Ai đã sống nhiều năm trên vùng đất Cali này ai cũng phải cảm ơn trời đất cho cái khí hậu tuyệt vời của Quận Cam. Bên thủ đô Hoa Thịnh Đốn nghe thằng bạn kể lạnh thật là lạnh hôm diễn hành Tết, vậy mà dân Cali được trời thương có được một ngày nắng ấm. Những tia nắng ấm lại làm cho màu sắc của các con lân lại còn tươi hơn và sống động theo các nhịp trống. Diễn hành Tết có lẽ nhờ thế cũng gia tăng không khí Xuân Về trong lòng người. Năm nay Hội Tương Trợ Xã Hội Westminster cũng tham dự với xe mui trần cũng để biểu dương lực lượng. Cầu xin Thượng Đế cho Hội đạt được kết quả tốt trong cộng đồng và giúp ích được nhiều việc xã hội.

Dear friend,
My name is Trien and I want to tell you about the Unity Exchange Club in Westminster, founded by Tram Ho, a devoted woman for community services. She was recognized by president Bush for her work in the community with the Gold Medal Volunteer Service Award 2007. Our members are simple persons like you and me, working in different field, as nurse or cosmetologist, post office worker or teacher, business owner or retired seniors. And they have one in common, they spend their free time helping other people in the communities. Our next project in April is Prevention of Child Abuse. I'm helping our Chapter President Tram to organize a forum about prevention of Child Abuse. For Mother month May we plan a "Mom and Me" event - Youth Talent Show in Westminster. Do you know Westminster has the biggest Vietnamese Community outside of Vietnam? In the last 30 years the vietnamese community has changed this first little known city of Westminster and the surround area into a powerful economic center like Chinatown and Little Tokyo.
